October Update: Striking Gold!
We’re proud to announce that Clara claimed the gold medal in the 2018 Pan American U23 Women’s race this Sunday in Midland, Ontario, CAN, hosted by the Silver Goose CX & Cyclocross Magazine. Congratulations, Clara!!!
In only its fifth iteration, the Pan-American CX championships has become an important event on a continental American cyclocross racer’s calendar in the build up to Nationals and Worlds.
We were proud to see both Clara & Sophie throw down in Saturday’s elite UCI women’s event before racing to 1st and 11th respectively in Sunday’s age-graded U23 continental championship event.
So far this year, our race weekends have trended toward with two individual days of highly contrasting conditions, and this weekend was no different. Saturday’s C2 saw every type of weather (however brief), with heavy rains in the preceding week augmenting fits of snow and sleet throughout the day, making for a fun, muddy, technical race. Winter elements faded overnight and sun and wind on Sunday made for a fast, dry course!
Check out photos from the weekend below, plus a post-race interview with Clara after Sunday’s victory.
While we made our way across the border, Beth Ann was flying the S&M flag in Massachusetts. On this first of two back-to-back weekends in the East Coast hotbed of CX, Beth notched 4th and 7th place finishes at the Really Rad CX Festival. The weekend is a new iteration of the Plymouth Festival of Cyclocross (originating in the 1970s), and a new addition to the domestic UCI calendar as of this year. The event featured a solid field of competition and dynamic, challenging course design.
In keeping with our season theme, Saturday’s race was a real mudder, with difficulty amplified by incredibly high winds! Sunday saw starkly contrasting dry conditions with a fast, fast track. Check out an awesome highlight reel from Saturday’s event below, courtesy of DirtWire.TV, with lots of BAO footage.
Congrats, Beth Ann, on these strong rides!
