Just over a week ago we traveled to Texas for our last collective team race weekend before Nationals. The weekend was cold but sunny, and the course was ripping. Our friend, photographer Adam Koble, was on hand for Saturday's race and captured some really wonderful shots of the team in action.
Clara started Saturday off fast, snagging the holeshot and holding the front for the first half lap. After losing contact with the front trio, Beth and Clara raced a tactical, cooperative team race to isolate their competition and get away together, leaving an opportunity to spar each other a bit in the closing lap. They finished back to back in the results, just off the podium in 4th and 5th.
In the men's race, Sean started from the back row, but made fast work to move up quickly. His clever decision to dismount and run wide at the field's first pass through the uphill sand pit allowed him to slot into 5th position almost immediately. However, a crash early in the second lap took him out of contention; he finished 12th on the day.
We spent the weekend with our dear friend (and former SCR employee!) Andrew and his parents at their home in Dallas. Beth Ann and Clara's mothers both traveled down from the PNW to spend the weekend with us and watch their daughters race. How awesome to wrap up our pre-Nationals calendar all together, with family aboard.
